  • A new, to me, series

It’s a pleasure to read a cozy with a strong, professional female protagonist and this one was definitely a pleasure. Julienne certainly delivers and while she is professional and direct, she has a caring side that makes her relatable. What I enjoyed most was how the author wove in a local Native American story into her own story, making you feel like you were soaking up some local Santa Fe history along with the whodunit. I will be checking out the first three books on the series and watching for future entries. The reason I took off one star was that there were quite a few spelling and grammatical issues throughout and the derail me from things for a few pages.

  • Enjoyed It

Julienne is no non sense MC. The book was a light and enjoyable read. I really enjoyed the local Santa Fe history throughout. There are three more in the series. I would recommend starting with the first but it’s not a must to understand. #Arrowed #NetGalley

  • 4 stars

Arrowed is a fast-paced cozy mystery with a delightful main character. It is the 4th book in the Resort to Murder Mysteries, but my first experience with the series. The books seem to stand alone, but it offers enough references (with no spoilers) to previous cases to help build the universe. I feel that Daniels gave us just enough of Julienne to make us get to know her and invest in her story, but I wish there were a bit more breadcrumbs to her story to help us get an idea of her background. With that said, I will read other books of the series in order, but I don't think it needs to be done that way. There was this funny tone to the novel, which I loved. Daniels prose is engaging, and it draws you in from the beginning and keeps it that way. My favorite Nancy Drew PC game was Shadow Ranch; I mention the game because I kept picturing that game's narrator's voice as I read Arrowed. Also, the similar setting from the description offered me this nostalgic connection that made me instantly want to read the book as cozies are my least favourite mystery subgenre because they tend to be too modern and formulaic. Let me tell you, Arrowed has started to make me want to try more books like these! I credit this to Daniels' talent. She created great characters, fleshed out but also relatable and familiar. This series would make great Hallmark Mysteries movies! I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers.
