  • Best in the series.

Bella and Edward are more in love than ever. The biggest worry they have is whether they are going to get married or not. Until they realise that vampires are terrorising Seattle. I’m going to do this review in several parts to give a clear picture: Fifteen-year-old me: So romantic! Edward wants Bella to marry him. *sigh* Jacob is still in love with her and wants her to choose him – he even shares tribe secrets with her. Wow! And when the bad vampires want to kill Bella, everyone works together to save her. Not one of the good guys die and Bella is going to marry Edward! Grown-up me: So no-one realised that Victoria is after Bella’s life? Not the mind-reader or the seer? Really? And what’s with Bella playing at a lover’s triangle when she knows that she only wants Edward? How selfish of her. She could ignite the war between vampires and werewolves, but all she cares about is her own feelings. I’m not even going to go into Edward’s crazy jealousy, control issues, temper or trust issues. Does Bella even want a life after High School or is being Edward’s wife the be-all and end-all of her existence? Where’s her drive? Where’s her hopes and dreams for a life of her own? She talks about attending a university, but never what she’s going to study. And how ridiculous is it to get married before your frontal cortex is even fully developed? Writer-me: Of all the books in the series, this might be the best one. There’s action, danger, a love triangle, Bella isn’t as passive as in the previous books, and there’s even the chance that she might get killed. (Let’s just say boring and selfish characters die regularly in my own writing.) I’m not going to go into the technical issues of this book – most likely only writers will appreciate it anyway. Conclusion: Lots of romance and action targeted at teenagers who are still starry-eyed. (Most likely tweens.)

  • Brilliant and very well written

Very vivid descriptions throughout all the book, brilliantly concieved. This book is for people ages around 13 and has it all: adventure, romance, and a touch of humour from the very bright narrator Bella. Highly recommended!
