  • She wore the night and all the night came with her

*** REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM GODSGRAVE*** I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a rough read. THE NEVERNIGHT CHRONICLES have never been a happy-go-lucky adventure. I expected an emotional roller coaster, and that was exactly what I got. And so much more. It's hard to put into words how deeply this book affected me. I'm literally warring with two parts of myself because a piece of me is weeping at how unfair it is, but the rest/majority of me knows that this truly is the right ending. Everything has come full circle in ways that I could not have imagined, and is a story that left me shaken for days. Epic is too small a word to fully describe the story and moments in this book. Mia has always been a beast in combat, but she has never been more powerful, ruthless, or deadly as she is here. The drama and farewells for all characters, both old and new, put aches in my chest. The romances and arcs and forgiveness offered in certain areas literally brought me to tears. It is a dark, dark read. This is an emotionally taxing story, but one I would never have wanted written any other way. It was also one of the most unique books I've ever read, in that it is super meta. I won't exactly say how, but suffice to say that you can almost picture Jay Kristoff in this piece. It threw me for a loop a few times, but was so on brand with his style that, combined with those beloved footnotes (and yes, I actually do love them), served as a reminder that he was with us on every step of this long, heartbreaking, jaw-dropping journey. I can understand why people would be upset about certain aspects of the book. I was right there with you for some of them. But the more I process, the more I read and think and understand, the more I know that this is the ending that suited what Jay Kristoff created. This is the horror, humour, and heartache we all loved from his work. While I cried and had my heart ripped out and will be mulling on it for days, it should say something about the quality of the author and his work that he was able to do so and give us all the RIGHT ending.

    Thanks for your feedback!
