    The Drama!!!

Can't help but fall in love with Mags, he's a country bumpkin (Like myself) and he finds a place in the world for himself because he's a country bumpkin. I also like how she writes the accents, because yes, that is how we talk sometimes and when Mags makes up a word I can't stop laughing. Dallen is super funny too.

    Another great book.

Really enjoy Lackey's writing and this book is another great Valdemar addition to the series. Looking forward to more books.

    Looking forward to the next

This is one of the better volumes in this series. it starts out with a wedding and other events to introduce readers back into the the life of Harald trainee Mags and his friends. The mystery of his past rears it head when Mags is kidnapped. While there are a couple of slow parts when Mags is trying to survive on his own to get back home, it picks up again and some old questions about the land of Karse that fans of Lackeys Valdemar series might have get answered, such as how the priests of the sun lord got corrupted and why the sun lord hadn't stopped them. I look forward to the next book in this series.

    Simply Brilliant

OMG. One of the most amazing Valdemar novels ever. Parts (especially nearing the end) as good as or even better than the 'originals,' like Magic's Pawn or Arrows of the Queen. Literally couldn't put it down, particularly during the last 4 chapters. In this case, Mind-magic, intrigue, and tangible life skills really were enough to fascinate - though i don't mean to discount all the fantastical characters, skills, folk, and creatures populating the other trilogies and time periods in Valdemar's history - love those too! But wow - this one was a mystery roller-coaster, especially towards the end. Totally worth reading through all 4 parts of this slowly unfolding saga. There was little to no tedium about this one, not even bits. And at last the word-for-word repetitions of what I'd already read in previous installments were in italics this time, so I could easily skip through them. Finally some of the characters I'd been so longing to see fleshed out, _were_ done justice. Wonder what's next? Please, Misty, don't even think of going into retirement! The sci-fi world needs you!
