    Don't bother

The premise of this book seemed promising. A mail order bride that is forced to spend time with the friend of her intended. One would think that this set up would result in some interesting and intense scenario's where parties express or explore these feelings. And yet the characters were fkin saints, that barely glanced sideways at the other lest they betray their true feelings. Ok I lied, there might have been an occasional glance but not much more than that. In short the characters were too good it was boring.

    Holed up for winter

This novel features a wonderful heroine, Evangeline Keating and her inquisitive, knowledge-hungry six year old Abigail. Their backstory, which leads to them meeting Scully Wainwright, is the key to the angt in their relationship. Springwater also highlights the loneliness, isolation and danger of frontier life, interleaved with the appearance of a number of minor characters who break the monotony.
