    Loved It

I grew up near in Kitimat so I read this book because I thought it could be interesting to read a book that was set near where I grew up and took place in locations I could not only picture in my head but could remember the smell, and sounds of a place. I wasn't sure it was a book I was going to enjoy but once I started reading it I really couldn't put it down. Monkey Beach was beautifully written and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends and family.

    Monkey Beach

A very unusual read. I really enjoyed the story and was quickly drawn into the characters lives and the setting in British Columbia. I've always had a thing for mountains and that made the descriptions that much more real for me. The intermingling of the real world and the spirit world was intriguing and well done, particularly as Lisa begins losing herself and her sense of reality in the last section of the story. The ending has left me a little puzzled but not dissatisfied.

    Monkey Beach

Riveting. Mystical and very real. The ambiguities may spring from either source. I loved it.
