  • Coffee and Cozies…the perfect combination!

Lana Lewis has settled into at Perkatory. Business is booming, her relationship with the local police chief is moving along, and puppy is responding to training. When classes let out at the yoga studio next door, most of the student head in for some caffeine and Tara is loving it. Life is good. When the owner of the yoga studio is found dead, Tara leaves the investigation to her paramour. Well, at least until the editor of the local paper asks her to cover the story, fueling Lana’s dream of getting back to her old gig. What she discovers about her late neighbor leaves her with no shortage of suspect. This case is going to challenge her relationship with Noah and could potentially put her life at risk too. Will she be lingering in Purgatory and Perkatory when all is said and done? A fab Florida based series filled with coffee, sunshine, sand and murder. A great series that will have you hitting the caffeine and binging through the book!

  • Fun & Entertaining

Cold Brew Corpse is the 2nd mystery in Tara Lush's A Coffee Lover's Mystery series. Lana Lewis works in her family's coffee shop - Perkatory - as the manager and a barista in the town of Devil's Beach, Florida. The property next door is an upcoming yoga studio called Dante's Inferno. When its owner and manager, Raina vanishes on her way back from her yoga retreat in Costa Rica and is later found dead in a swamp, Lana feels the urge to investigate, discovering that Raina seemed to have bags full of enemies. This book had an extremely intriguing plot and I was swept along with the story from the start. Tara Lush's writing is peppy, sharp and edgy and I love her portrayal of the main character, Lana a former investigative journalist whom I found to be sassy and determined. I was also impressed by her dad who's a laid back, hippie type of guy and very supportive of his daughter. With a developing situation between Lana and Chief Noah Garcia and complete with a Shih Tzu doggy named Stanley, Cold Brew Corpse is one for those who like their cozies fresh and amusing and I can't wait to see what's next for Lana. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley and this is my own unbiased opinion.

  • Loved it!

journalist, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, cozy-mystery, family, Florida, friendship, island-life, coffee, small-business, small-town, pets, romantic, relationships***** After working the crime beat for a paper in Miami, Lana got laid off (like too many journalists) and came home to the family businesses in Devil's Beach, Florida, especially the Perkatory Cafe and free-lancing for the local rag. She also carries the baggage of a slimy ex-husband, but is tenatively beginning a new venture with the new town police chief. One of the tenants in the family's building is a very unusual yoga instructor who is about the same age, but goes missing (just like Lana's friend in high school). But this time the missing woman is found dead in the swamp. Add in some shady suspects, politicians, multiple law enforcement agencies, red herrings, a puppy in need of schooling, and some really interesting plot twists, and you have this high caffeine cozy! Loved it! I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
