Dark and insightful with good characters.

My first read of Kate Wrath, definitely not my last. Her description of life in a world after a voluntary societal shift to control by overlord robots was dark and insightful. The characters were making their best efforts to cope in a world that refused to be easy. Not offensive to me in any way so a book that could be enjoyed by all ages of fiction lovers.

    It became engrossing

I have to admit that I had a problem at the start - dissociated thoughts while Eden is recovering consciousness in a strange dark place. Soon she wakes outside with few memories of life before now. That's when I started to get interested. The struggles of Eden and the other people that she meets are life and death. It is a dog-eat-dog society with the powerful making others pay for their survival. Eden makes some friends but life in Outpost 3 is becoming harder when the leader of another Outpost wants to take over. From a shaky start, the story became engrossing.
