Loved this Funny and Sexy Sports Romance!

Hooked is a sexy and funny romantic read! I devoured this book and didn't want it to end. I loved that the story is told from both main characters points of views. It really helped heighten the emotions and make Jake and Miranda more relatable. There are swoons and sexy times (ahem, parking garage!), but also laughs and just the right amount of drama and angst. Jake and Miranda are great individually, but together they're amazing! I loved how independent and driven Miranda was. She didn't let her go of her own goals and stayed true to herself throughout the entire book. I was glad that she spoke her mind and challenged Jake by always calling him out on his behavior. Her refusal to let Jake just come to her financial rescue only made me respect her more and heightened the connection between our characters. Yes, there was great chemistry and a physical attraction between Jake and Miranda, but their friendship and relationship progressed naturally and didn't feel rushed. I liked that they each struggled to battle their demons and relationship fears. On the outside they live very different lives, but as you peel the layers back, you see how they actually really complement each other. Jake initially comes across as an arrogant jerk, but as the story progresses, you see that it's really a mask and that he has put up a wall around his heart. You realize just how vulnerable and sweet he is and this ups the swoons exponentially. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he owns up to them and resolves things maturely with Miranda, showing how true and deep his feelings run. All of his hockey rituals and superstitions were fun to read about too, though wearing the same game socks repeatedly during a streak sounds pretty terrible! The epilogue was perfect and I loved getting that glimpse of the future. I would love to read more about Jake and Miranda, or her sister Paige, who provided some great comic relief (ahem, getting woken up by books falling onto your head!) If you're looking for a funny and sexy read that's high on swoons and low on drama, you don't want to miss Hooked!

    Fun read

He's a cocky hockey player. She's a struggling college student. Together they are explosive. May sound like your typical romance but it has a depth that makes this one fresh and enjoyable. Jake Birch finds himself in trouble with the team owners. Their edict, clean up your act or your out. On top of that, after the team owners daughter whines and complains that Jake never called her after he got what he wanted, he's being forced to "date" her. Of course now is when he would meet a woman who actually intrigues him. Miranda wants nothing to do with men. They are the last thing she has time for, so when the hockey hottie she met at the hotel keeps showing up she doesn't give him the time of day. Not willing to take no for an answer, he has the nerve to request her as his personal housekeeper. Now he's getting hard to resist. He's sweet, offers to help her with her studying, and is simply gorgeous. How long can a girl not give in to that?? This was a fun read and one I definitely recommend.

    Engaging Sports Romance!

Miranda is to the point in her honesty. She's working on her degree and juggling two jobs to make ends meet. One job is at an upscale hotel as a maid. She meets Jake in his penthouse suite when she arrives to clean it. She doesn't know or care that he's famous. She's tired and angry that Jake causes her to become flustered just being near the hot tenant! She ends up telling him off in no uncertain terms! Engaging, sports romance between two alphas! Changing isn't easy for anyone. Two people not used to sharing is funny and heartwarming! Entertaining quick read! Book free for honest review.

    A really great read

Bad boy hockey player Jake Birch has met his match in Miranda. She is a housekeeper in the hotel that Jake is temporarily renting a penthouse in. From the get go, she calls him out at every turn and won't take any of his douchebaggery. Jake realizes that he enjoys her directness. In fact he even looks forward to her visits every morning. And she doesn't make it easy for him. He genuinely needs to work hard for once to earn her favor. He's definitely hooked on her. But his earlier indiscretions are coming back to bite him in the rear and now his career is on the line unless he date's the team owner's daughter. And he's too embarrassed to tell Miranda the truth. Now he has a tough choice to make - lose the life he's built up for himself or the only woman in the world that makes his life complete. A hot, sexy story!

I haven’t read too many hockey romance stories. Not being into sports much at all I’m kind of surprised at how much I like reading sports related romance stories. Hooked was a fun, sexy story to read. The story is told in first person alternating between Miranda and Jake. Miranda is a maid working at the fancy hotel where Jake is living while his condo is being renovated. She is also attending school and tending bar part time to help pay for her schooling. Jake is the star center, leading scorer and team captain of Chicago’s hockey team. He’s cocky and has a host of rituals he follows prior to every game. When he and Miranda meet while she’s cleaning his suite at the Dupont, she’s less than impressed when he gives her a list of very specific items he wants kept in his suite. She doesn’t take any crap from him and it’s a refreshing change from the women who normally fall all over him. He’s intrigued enough that he wants to see her again – out side of her duties as his maid. This book was a very entertaining story to read. There are a couple of complicated plot points that made the story interesting. Miranda was burned in the past by a cheating boyfriend. Jake’s not always very forthcoming about what is going on with him which, of course, leads to a big misunderstanding between them. I loved that Hooked includes an epilogue that lets us know what’s going on with Jake and Miranda five years down the road. If you like hockey related romance stories you should really enjoy this one. Even if you’re not crazy about sports it’s still a very entertaining and romantic story with the angst factor not over the top. A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.
