    Simply Beautiful....

Beautiful ending to an awesome series! I am not a hockey fan, not even a bit. But with this series and with this author, you don’t need to be. This author has mastered the perfect cocktail of great character development and in-depth storylines. You will be glued to this journey from beginning to end. Release brings our focus to Orion. On the ice, he is an enforcer. He’s tough, competitive, and driven. But off the ice, he is patient, caring, and so sweet that your teeth will ache! Samara keeps to herself. She holds two jobs and spends the rest of her time held up in her apartment. She lives in fear of the past and is beyond cautious of not only her safety, but of her emotions. When these two collide, there is an attraction that is too difficult to fight. Release is full of emotional heartache and angst. But what outshines all of that is the strength to move on from the past and accept the happily ever after that is awaiting these two characters. In this final installment of the Fire On Ice series, we are also treated with past characters that stole our hearts in previous installments. The author wove them into the storyline perfectly! I highly recommend not only this book, but the entire series. Book 1 – Bound Book 2 – Captive Book 3 – Edge Book 4 - Drive

    Hot Hockey Players NEVER disappoint!

Release is the fifth book in Brenda’s Fire on Ice series and can be read as a complete standalone. Our hero, Orion, only makes a brief appearance in the other books and is not a major player. Going into this book, not knowing much at all about Orion was refreshing. He was a blank slate. It didn’t take too long to figure out that Orion was one of the good guys. He didn’t sleep around, or keep a girl in each state he travelled to, or act like an arrogant jerk. I like my drama in books, but if more guys were like Orion, I might never come up for air. We meet Orion when he is heading home for the off season. His sister, who has two kids, was just abandoned by her husband and could really use the extra hands. Orion hasn’t been home since breaking up with his long-time, hometown girlfriend, Amy. He is completely over her, but doesn’t really feel like dealing with her drama. He’s there to take care of his family and relax. What he doesn’t count on is Samara. Samara and Orion went to high school together. He was the hockey stud and she was the loner. They weren’t friends, but you start to see that Orion was the nice guy. He didn’t shun anyone...and he remembers Samara, but is surprised by how beautiful she is. Samara is just trying to keep her head down and do her job. She came home after a relationship went terribly wrong and just wants to be left alone. The last thing she wants is to have a conversation with the arrogant, hockey stud. She has no idea he’s about to rock her world. I didn’t think Brenda could do better than Ryke, but she knocked it out of the park with Orion. He is loyal to his family and drops everything to be what they need. He has values and morals. He is not just searching for a fling, but a lasting relationship. He wants someone to spend his life with. His job on the ice is an enforcer. He protects his teammates and it shows in his everyday life. Orion just wants Samara to feel safe with him. No matter how many times she tries to push him away, Orion is persistent. Giving up is not an option for him. Orion treats Samara like a princess and I just really enjoyed watching the slow build of their relationship. Samara had a difficult childhood and Orion shows her how she should be cared for. Even with her not-so-happy life, Samara is not weak or sheltered. She is strong and independent. She refuses to rely on someone else for happiness or comfort, but having Orion there just gives her more confidence to be the person she always was. Release deals with some difficult situations and Brenda handles them perfectly. It could have been too sappy, or delivered too much of a message, but that was not the case here. Orion and Samara’s story was the perfect wrap up to Fire on Ice, and I am happy for the hot, hockey players to continue in her next series! 5 STARS!

“I know my heart. And if you want it, it’s yours.”

Brenda, you are so beyond incredible and talented! I only hope my review will do this book justice. I'm willing to sit in the penalty box for throwing down with anyone who doesn't love this book! I didn't think I'd ever love a character more than sweet, sexy Luke in Edge (book 3) but Orion..... the Feels he elicits, I don't know when or if I'll recover from the book hangover Release gave me. It's bittersweet, knowing this book ends one of my favorite book series of all time but WOW, what a way to end! This book is Orion and Samara's story. Faithful, huge hearted Orion and strong, but insecure and afraid Samara make a perfect couple. I loved that Sam's background didn't leave her a wimpy whiney woman. The woman was FIERCE when she needed to be. The secondary characters in this story were wholly enjoyable and contributed to both the back story and current plot. One reason I adore Brenda's books is that while there is enough steam to fog up the windows in the room you're reading in there is ALWAYS more to the story than the relationship between the H/h. Release is about the depth of love and loyalty between friends and family, selfless sacrifice and inner strength. Orion and Sam's love is the kind people dream of, their friends are people you want to be friends with yourself and you'll find yourself wishing you could show up in Henley, Indiana to spend time with Orion's family. I'm sad that the Fire on Ice series is over but I'm thrilled that the first spin off novel is coming in February 2015! We'll get more Orion and Sam and I've got my fingers crossed we'll see more of the Fire on Ice couples and their families.

An amazing story to end a remarkable series

Orion Caldwell just finished his hockey season in Chicago and heads home to Indiana. His father recently passed away and her sister's husband took off, leaving her to take care of two children while having a full time job and studying at night. To him family is first and he loves being back in his hometown. Not completely true, he loves his hometown but it not looking forward to seeing his ex who cheated on him with one of his friends. Orion is an honest to goodness great guy and while he came to stay for the summer to help out, he could've never imagined that life as he'd known it until this point was about to change. Samara Cross works at the big grocery store in town and at first she might come as shy and completely introvert, she does her job and goes back to her little apartment, her refuge, where she feels safe. Samara has a horrible past that has left her traumatized and closed up, she doesn't trust anyone, she doesn't socialized. That is until Orion shows up at the grocery store and little by little start bringing her walls down. While this is a love story it's also a story that not only makes you think, but ponders the question of what would you do for the ones you love, what would your ultimate sacrifice be? Brenda wrote a beautiful story that not only tell us that good guys can and do finish first, but also that when you really love someone you would go to the ends of the earth and back to see that person smile and live a full life. I absolutely love this story, I love every single one of those characters and the amazing qualities they portray, the love between Orion and his family alone will warm your heart. There's no doubt in my heart that Brenda has an incredible ability to make the reader a part of the story, but she also makes it easy for the reader to relate and root for them as the book progresses. Samara strength will inspire you and Orion's big heart will have you swooning until the very last page. I'm sad that this is the last book of this series but I'm looking forward to what else comes from one of my favorite authors.

    Loved I. Wowed once again

We're to start. This is the last book in this series and it did not disappoint. I loved Orion and Samara's story. They meet at the grocery store in Orion's hometown while he is visiting during his summer break. He's intrigured by her at first sight but it doesn't seem she is interested in the least. After a few more unplanned encounters Orion finally persuades Samara to go on a date with him. Knowing she has feelings for him Orion still cant get her to open up to him until the day her past is catching up with her. Combined with Samara's frightening past, his nephews health problems and his hockey courier Orion finds himself having to make some incredible selfless choices. This is a lovely story about trust, believe and love. A must read. Thank you Brenda. Once again you've got me wowed❤️
