  • Love this series!

Oh how I love this world that Ms. Flynn has created! This is the awk-weird story of Tess and Cole.  An awkward meeting over a trivia game, random facts spouting and a hella hot hookup. Tess is just precious.  I could sympathize with her go-to reaction of spewing out random facts.  I wanted to hug her hard after reading about her past and how she was shuffled along.  I too know how it is to make yourself small, to disappear into the wall to not make waves. Cole, oh this hot mess of a man.  Such a stickler for consistency, but that is his "safe" place. I did want to shake him hard about his stubbornness with Marti, I mean come on! See what is in front of you! Tess and Cole have sparks galore, but they also have insecurities and vulnerabilities that almost wreck their relationship. With hilarious secondary characters and a spawn of satan cat, this story is one you won't be able to put down until the very end!

  • Hot hockey player + nerdy girl = all sorts of fun!

Hot hockey player + nerdy girl = all sorts of fun! Avery Flynn has once again delivered a fun read that has her trademark snark, sass, and humor, but also brings in a dose of real-life drama when a very unplanned pregnancy is added in to the mix. Tess was quirky and nerdy and had some very funny moments, but it was Cole who stole my heart as he just dealt with whatever came out of Tess’s mouth and ultimately helped her find a comfort zone to manage her verbal spewing of factoids when she was nervous. Cole had his own issues and I enjoyed watching Tess, and her kitty Khan, turn his world upside-down, adding chaos to his perfectly ordered life and helping him see that being so rigid was actually hurting more than helping him, not only personally, but also professionally. There was no shortage of chemistry between these two, but it did get a bit frustrating watching the two of them fight their feelings so hard even though the attraction was so strong and everyone but the two of them knew that the feelings they had for each other were real. Although this can be read as a standalone, having met Tess in a few other books and having some back-story about Cole and his on-again/off-again relationship with his ex made this one easy to jump right into. The supporting cast of characters, from Tess’s friends to Cole’s teammates, added the perfect mix of fun and support for both Tess and Cole, and I loved how they were able to give both Tess and Cole the tough love they needed when they needed it. I just love Avery Flynn’s writing style and her ability to breathe life into her characters. She has a way of making you lose yourself in her stories and wishing her characters were real so you can hang out with them. Definitely one for the TBR! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book I received from the publisher from NetGalley.

  • Loved this story!

I absolutely loved Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn. Tess is awkward, quirky and entirely lovable. Cole is handsome, sexy, yet entirely down to earth. The two made a perfect romantic pair for me., I let this book sit for months for 2 reasons: 1) I didn’t think I would love it because it’s a romance book and 2) it’s part of a series. I found that I loved the romance-not the sex so much I. It’s graphic ness, which I’m over but would have loved 20 years ago- and the story was a stand also be and I didn’t feel like I missed anything by not reading the first book. I may go back for Fallon’s story, and may pursue the next story, but I feel satisfied with Tess and Coles story. I enjoyed being a part of it. #netgalley #awkweird

  • So good

5 Star Review Awk-Weird (Ice Knights #2) by Avery Flynn Avery Flynn is a relatively new author to me and I have no idea why that is. Having read the first book in the series I couldn’t wait to dive in and see who was next. Cole plays for the Ice Knights, it’s all he wants to do. When he meets Tess at the wedding he is attracted to her whilst Tess cannot believe that this gorgeous Thor look alike could possibly be interested in her. The chemistry between Cole and Tess sizzles as a hook up suddenly morphs in to so much more. I loved the banter between them as they got to know each other and I freely admit to some laugh out loud moments which got me some strange looks on the train. The secondary characters were just as entertaining. Both Cole and Tess are certainly quirky characters that you couldn’t help but fall for. In fact they were so great together that I didn’t want their story to end. Awk-Weird is a great example of RomCom at it’s finest and I cannot wait to read more in the Ice Knights series.

  • One fine read!

Awk-Weird is one fine story that will make you laugh, make you hot, make you sigh, and make you happy you read it. Hockey player, Cole is stuck in a routine of sameness because his father’s job kept the family moving around and he desperately wanted roots. Florist Tess’ childhood was spent moving too...from one family member to another, never quite fitting in or feeling wanted. Both are seeking stability, but going about it in the wrong way. After a wedding hookup leaves Tess pregnant Cole and Tess have lessons to learn and adjustments to make, especially when a mess at Tess’ apartment forces her to move in with Cole. Author Avery Flynn delves into the psyche of both with humor and understanding, creating characters readers will want to cheer for...or throttle depending on the situation. This reader especially enjoyed supporting character, Khan, a feline who acts remarkably like one residing in my house. In short, this book was a joy to read and filled with many memorable moments. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.
