  • High Death Count

I don't think I've ever read a book with such a high death count. It starts off credulous but quickly moves to incredulous as you get beyond the halfway point Enjoyable enough but not a patch on the Lewis stories. Not in the same class as a Rebus or Bosch detective.

  • A race against time to find a child's killer

On his final day as a police officer, D.I. Jack MacNeil strives to find the killer of a young child. With powerful people, a curfew and a pandemic getting in his way, he's got a tough task on his hands. As usual, the book is well written, pacy and relevant. Peter May paints a vivid picture of London in lockdown during a pandemic. Given our current predicament, it's a worry that life conditions easily deteriorate to the state he describes. Peter's intensive research enables him to predict uncannily the measure that governments have taken to combat COVID-19

  • It was ok

A bit weird to read during lockdown but a very good story line.

  • Lockdown

A terrifying and prescient thriller. Utterly gripping as usual as Pete May's books always are.
