A typical romp with V.I. Warshawski

I've always enjoyed the V.I. Warshawski novels. This one again has a few references to previous novels (the problem being that since some of them were read long ago, I don't remember specifically what they are referring to). Vic's ex-husband plays more of a role in this book than I think he has in any of the previous books. Vic's relationship the the CPD is less confrontational in this book but the same can't be said about the Sheriff's department. Vic gets beat up at least twice in this book (which seems to be typical of the V.I. Warshawski books). This book starts out with two unrelated plots. I did enjoy this book - although Vic appears to have gotten slightly younger since the previous book.

    Shell Game

Not one of her best, too long with too many story lines. I got bored and frustrated , but wasdetermined to finish it.

    Shell Game

One of the best written books I have read, both for mystery and entrigue but also for the undercurrents of todays history in the making.

    I couldn't put it down

I've always been a fan but this story was above and beyond and so topical! Fascinating characters, a look into the world of newcomers to North America and a riveting plot. Read straight for two days. Thanks Ms Paretsky!
