  • A good read!

At First Hate gives you veritable whiplash with the past and present alternating through different chapters. We learn why Marley hates Derek. Why she has an underlying love for him and vice versa. This is a long book delving into both timelines. Its told mostly through Marleys POV. The push and pull between the characters made me in certain parts, want to slap them. Annoyingly so. In all honesty this book threw me for a loop and took me a while to get through it and I wondered if or when Marley would be happy in her life. Can the girl from the wrong side of the tracks get the rich boy after all? An enemies to lovers romance where the bets, the uncomfortable moments, the hurt, the snark and the memories all play a part in Marley and Derek’s story! It was a good read.

  • A heartaching journey

At First Hate by K.A. Linde is a love story truly spreading across the ages and spaces. This soulful love story grows as the characters do. So many emotions. So many ups and downs. And still they end up together after a heartaching journey. This story goes back and forth in time as it tracks Marley and Derek through high school, college and present time. Marley was the sassy and sweet girl with smarts who didn't fall at feet of rich and gorgeous Derek. And that was first a challenge to him that later became the fascination. They were enemies and then friends and then enemies and then lovers and then enemies..so on and so forth. Their chemistry is nuclear hot but hearts have issues. They both had highly demanding and ambitious career and their emotions always clashed. Derek wasn't ready for a final step and he hurt Marley over the years and when he was ready, Marley isn't ready to give in. It was a beautiful rollercoaster with an amazing range of emotions. The story has an enormous caste of secondary characters and I admit, I was lost many times. Also the story is told from Marley's POV and I feel seeing some parts from Derek's POV was necessary. At First Hate by K.A.Linde grabbed my attention with the unique storytelling, great characters and deep emotions. I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

  • An angsty Second chance romance

At First Hate is a second chance, Enemies to lover romance full of angst.. Marley lives with her grandparents, estranged from her mother and goes to a public high school.. Derek hails from a rich family and goes to private school.. Derek n Marley story starts when they first meet during their high school days and spans over a decade. From their very first meeting at high school, through their grad days and work times, their love and hate relationship continues. They either are at each other throats or end up making out with each other. The story goes to and fro between past and present that keeps us guessing the whole time.. The character growth and the relationship tangent of Derek and Marley over the span of a decade is amazing and full of angst... And I absolutely loved all the cameos in this book... If you are looking out for a roller coaster ride with full of angst, this book definitely delivers that...

  • loved every word

From the moment they had their first kiss they were destined to be together. But for some reason or another they never found their happily ever after. Now Marley is back in Savannah because her mother is contesting Gran’s will. Derek is the attorney for her mother and seeing him again brings back all the feelings she once felt for him. Both good and bad. She refuses to let him into her heart again but it seems these two cannot stay away from each other. Once you start reading their story you cannot stop. It is such an incredible read. Each time they broke up you thought it was the last time, but something always made them find each other again. Whether it was months or years their paths always crossed. Their passion and chemistry burned the pages. I loved the cameos of past characters and the hidden Easter eggs was such a special treat. A true gem from an author that always gives her readers what they want.

  • Second Chances

Marley and Derek’s story takes place through High School, College, Grad School, and in their current daily life. Their relationship has more than second chances, because they have multiple run-ins with each other through the years. Marley knows that Derek is always a bad choice, but she knows there is a good side to Derek Ballentine and is always drawn to him. The biggest difference between the two is that Marley has struggled through life and come out on top, thanks to her Grandparents. Derek comes from money and really never had to work to hard for what he had. I loved how Derek finally realized what he had in Marley and was will to stand up to everyone for her. Great story, but it does jump back and forth during various times of their lives.
