The story of Shohn Hudson and Nadine Moest was a fun read. It is a novella that was first published 2013 as part of an anthology. While reading it I knew it was a reprint, yet I thought it dated even further back since the demeanor and attitude of the characters reminded me of the first Harlequin books I read a few decades ago. Nadine is a curvy girl, and I loved that. She was a strong, capable, and caring person. She runs her own successful business and is liked by all. She has had a crush on Shohn since they were kids, yet she has no desire to be one of his conquests, another notch in his bedpost. Shohn is a notorious ladies man. He can charm them all and he knows it and enjoys it. Except for Nadine who does not seem to care about his flirting. Shohn seems to take this as a challenge and sets a plan to seduce Nadine. The banter between them is entertaining, the back and forth goes on through the tale. Novella length does not give you much room for character development and a meaningful conflict, but I doubted Shohn's feelings, I was not sure if Nadine was a challenge to him or was there deeper meaning with his relentless pursuit. I also was surprised that the strong and capable woman that Nadine was introduced as swooned when Shohn paid attention to her, was complete putty in his hands. But maybe some books should just be enjoyed for the amusing repartee and sizzling physical chemistry - Shohn had plenty of both of them. A nice rainy evening read ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
