  • Lovely second chance romance

The Arizona Vengeance series is a very good one and the addition of Steele, just strengthens it. Jim and Ella Steele are high school sweethearts that have been married for more than a dozen years and they share a teenaged daughter, but they are currently enduring a separation. Ella asked Jim to leave about six months earlier because he seemed to be choosing everything else over her and their daughter, Lucy. To put it simply, he was being selfish. Now that Jim has had time to reflect on what Ella has been telling him and also as he thinks back to his behavior, he realizes that she's right and if he wants any chance to get her back, he's going to have to make some changes. While Ella has taken steps to begin to move on, will Jim be able to change her mind and show her that their marriage is worth another try? It's rare you encounter a second-chance romance where the couple is married and fighting for their relationship, but I loved it. We saw the push and pull from both sides and how they both had to look inwardly to take stock of what they both wanted. I also liked how their daughter Lucy fit into the story, as well as the WAGs; they gave Ella some great advice. Another great addition to this series!

  • A heartfelt story!

Jim Steeles story is the perfect addition to the Arizona Vengeance series and I really really enjoyed it! With marital issues and a child, Jim has had a difficult time! But his wife more so. The way hockey took over their marriage and Jim not paying her enough attention she has sought friendship elsewhere! Jim may be a caring father however he still loves his wife and daughter and will do anything to have them back! This book was heartbreaking to be quite honest and I honestly just wanted a happy ending! Needless to say the words written were wonderful and Ms Bennett really gave their story so much heart! Jim definitely has some big decisions and the support and advice from all on his team is extraordinary!

  • Great second chance at love story!

Jim Steele is the second line left winger on the Arizona Vengeance and his hockey game is on fire.....too bad his marriage is also on fire and quickly going down in flames. It's been six months since his wife, Ella, asked him to move out. She feels he puts more time and effort into everything else except her and their 13 year old daughter, Lucy. To say this was an eye opener to Steele is an understatement.....especially after he sees Ella out on a date with another man. This kicks Steele's butt into gear to after what he really wants most in the world....his wife and daughter! Ella is cautious at first but decides to give Jim a chance to try and win her back. As Jim starts the wooing process, Ella starts to see signs of the man she first fell in love with. Just when you think these two are going to find their way back to each other, real life gets in the way. It will take a huge leap of faith for these two to find their happy ever after again but they finally do. I just loved Steele. He deep down really loved his wife and daughter, he just didn't realize that he wasn't showing them that anymore. I really enjoyed watching him woo Ella. It was fun and flirty and gave you all those good feels. Overall I really loved this story of second chances and loved their happy ending.

  • loved it

Just because you get married doesn’t mean the romance has to end. Even years down the road romance should still be a part of your relationship. Yes, life gets in the way, but you should never forget what made you fall in love. Jim is finding this out the hard way. Yes, he loves Ella, but his hockey career sometimes comes first and after all these years Ella is not happy with it. His feelings and love for her are always there but sometimes he doesn’t always show it. I guess he takes it for granted that she knows he loves her and is committed to their marriage. Ella has had enough so she asks him for a separation. Jim doesn’t fight her he just leaves never really hearing why she has asked him to leave. It is after months of being away from Ella and their daughter and alone that he starts to realize what he was doing wrong. How he put his family second to hockey and other things in his life. Now he wants Ella back and is willing to do anything and everything to show her he has changed and that they are the most important people in his life. It won’t be easy; talk is cheap as the saying goes but he is listening now. Which is something he never did before they separated. Sometimes we don’t realize how good something is until we lose it. Jim is determined to convince Ella to take him back. To remember the love, they shared and the family they created. She agrees to give him time to prove himself that he is ready to come back but it won’t be quick or easy. Now the simple things he took for granted he now appreciates. Like simple texts during the day to Ella, romantic “dates”, staying home and eating junk food and watching movies. But can Ella trust him again. This is all nice now, but will it always be like this or will he revert to how things used to be. But sometimes you have to take the risk if the outcome is worth it. Even though each story is a stand alone it is great to see all the other couples and what is going on in their lives. These books all represent a family of sorts. They may not be related by blood, but they are family all the same.
