Ben's Story - Another Great Stage Dive Book

Ok Stage Dive fans - you have been waiting and it finally came, Ben and Lizzy's story. I know what you're thinking, Lizzy pregnant how predictable. And yet as always, Kylie Scott takes the book beyond the predictable story-line. We even get to see Martha again, with a little peek at who the next Stage Dive book will be about. If you have not read the series yet, then I'm going to suggest that you come back to this one after you read the other books first. Unlike the rest of the series, this book has a lot of spoilers in it - so start with book 1 through book 3 and then come back to this one. You will not regret it. These are powerful, character driven stories that go beyond what the normal story-line.

    Different approach

I was a bit surprised, but very pleased, by Ben's choices--so much waffling. It's usually presented aa woman's trope to not be able to come to a firm decision and stick to it. This change of pace made for a delicious read.

    An amazing cast of characters!!!

WOW! That was so much fun! I love the writing style of Kylie Scott. Lizzy Rollins is an amazing character. Her sense of humor was fantastic and she meshed so well with the reserved bass player of Stage Dive, Ben Nicholson. They set the sheets on fire! Sometimes your upbringing leads you to believe that love, commitment and relationships are not in the cards for you. Leave it to the determined Lizzy to not give up on the one man she had to have. The entire Stage Dive family is amazing! I can't wait to read more of this fantastic series. Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

Rock star romance full of back and forth

Deep can be read as a standalone, I haven’t read any of the previous books in the Stage Dive series and I’ve had no difficulties in diving into the story. I am absolutely sure that I’ll go back to read the previous books, though. Because as I was reading Deep, I became more and more curious about the previous stories. The book starts with Liz finding out she’s pregnant and I gotta say the way Ben finds out is hilarious. There’s a few flashbacks to show how everything happened between them and the rest is about Ben and Liz trying to wrap their minds around the unexpected pregnancy. I really liked how Kylie Scott wrote the book and I found myself laughing out loud through some scenes. But this was a tough one for me to review, I stopped reading the book a few times, including when I got to 90%. Why? Because of Ben. Ben was nothing but frustrating and he kept being frustrating until 95% of the book. I spent most of the time wanting to smack him in the head. “I’m here for you”, “Let’s try it” and “I can’t do this” are key sentences to Ben, and at some point all his back and forth turned out to be a little exhausting. I liked Liz, even though I thought she should punch Ben but I liked how she tried to handle the changes in her life and how she handled both her sister and Mal. I really liked the text messages between her and Ben and some of the sweet moments between them. I am really curious about Vaughan (a member of the opening band), a spin-off series maybe? Until 95% of the book, I was rating the book at 3 stars but the ending totally deserved one more star! Overall, a rock star romance full of back and forth and drama.
